Hexavalent Chromium: NIOSH Document Recommends New REL

NIOSH released a criteria document for a new recommended standard on occupational exposure to hexavalent chromium, or Cr(VI). The document provides a revised recommended exposure limit (REL) for airborne exposure to all Cr(VI) compounds. The recommended REL would limit exposures to a concentration of 0.2 μg Cr(VI) for an 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA) exposure during a 40-hour work week.
