Chemical Management Specialist
As Colden’s on-site chemical management consultant at the GE Transportation facility in Erie, Pennsylvania, Caitlin Fobes oversees the usage of chemicals and other materials. In this role, she reviews and approves new chemicals and coated parts, controls usage amounts and locations, and tracks and reports regulatory information. She also manages the respirator cleaning and repair program for over 500 of the facility’s employees enrolled in the respiratory protection program.
Ms. Fobes received her bachelor of science in chemistry, with concentrations in biochemistry and forensic chemistry, and a minor in business administration, from Slippery Rock University. Before joining Colden, Ms. Fobes worked as an environmental health and safety (EHS) intern at General Electric (Lighting) in Cleveland, Ohio. She assisted in creating job safety analyses (JSA’s) and Lockout/Tagout procedures, performed waste inspections, and led the health and wellness program. She also performed internal audits and helped prepare for external corporate audits. Ms. Fobes was a member of the safety steering committee, the ergonomics team, and the health and wellness team at the GE facility. She also played a significant role in the Industrial Hygiene Risk Assessments (IHRAs) for each process in the facility.
