We’re thrilled to share that our own Chrisy Walsh, MS, CIH, CSP, out of our New Orleans Regional Office, is a published contributor in the newly released Handbook of Occupational Safety and Health, Fourth Edition (Wiley), edited by S. Z. Mansdorf.
Chrisy co-authored Chapter 2, “Information Resources for Occupational Safety and Health Professionals,” alongside Leah R. McEwen (Cornell University Library) and Robert F. Herrick (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, retired).
The chapter outlines the four fundamental ways OSH professionals use information, supported by real world case studies:
- As a Reference Tool to access trusted resources for day to day decisions
- As a Data Collection Tool to capture and organize workplace conditions effectively
- As a Decision Making Tool to answer the different questions posed by workers, regulators, and leadership using the same underlying data
- As a Communication Tool to translate findings into formats that resonate with each audience
