Matt Macomber,
MS, CIH

Senior Consultant

Matt Macomber, MS, CIH is a Colden Consultant located in the Midwest who has worked in the field of occupational health, safety, and industrial hygiene for more than 30 years.  His primary focus is delivering EHS value for customers in a variety of industries.  As a senior industrial hygienist in Michigan OSHA’s General Industry Safety and Health (MIOSHA) Enforcement Division for over 20 years, Matt has served as the infectious disease specialist since 2012. He has also developed training programs for the MIOSHA Training Institute on various topics including permit-required confined space entry, bloodborne pathogens, emergency services, and first aid.  With MIOSHA he also provided technical expertise and onsite services for the World Trade Center Response.  Before joining MIOSHA he was an industrial hygienist for Dow Corning’s Global Industrial Hygiene Safety and Loss Prevention team providing industrial hygiene, occupational health, and safety support to Dow’s US and International facilities.  As a consultant he provided support to the Hurricane Katrina response and recovery, the Deepwater Horizon accident, the Enbridge Kalamazoo River spill, and other disaster responses.

Matt has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Engineering from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan and a Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene from Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan.  Matt is an American Board of Industrial Hygiene Certified Industrial Hygienist.

Matt is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and is active on both the Confined Spaces and Ergonomics Committees.  He is a member of the Michigan Safety Conference Health Care Division and is the current Past President and a member of the board of directors for the Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society.  Matt has delivered professional development courses for national and local sections of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the Michigan Safety Conference, and multiple governmental agencies.  He has been an adjunct faculty member for Saginaw Valley State University Public Health and Emergency Response programs and is a guest lecturer at other state universities.

In his free time, Matt enjoys outdoor activities, boating, camping, and fishing.  He participates in championship trivia teams, and plays tournament poker.
